Prototypes

You do not need to arrive with a finished STL file. Useful information includes:

When is FDM 3D printing not the right process?
It is not ideal for every part. Very high-volume production, safety-critical components, demanding heat environments, certified applications or parts requiring extremely fine cosmetic surfaces may need another manufacturing process or material.
A good supplier should tell you when printing is not the right answer rather than forcing every problem into a printer.
