More Google reviews can make a local business easier to trust, but the biggest problem is usually not that customers refuse to review you. It is that they forget, do not know where to go, or have to take too many steps.
The goal is simple: make it easy for real customers to leave honest feedback at the right moment.
1. Ask at the right moment
The best time to ask is normally just after the customer has experienced the service. A barber can ask after the haircut, a garage after handing the car back, and a hotel around checkout.
Do not turn the request into pressure. A simple “If you have a minute, we’d really appreciate your feedback” is enough.
2. Use a direct Google review link
Do not ask customers to search for your business manually. Google lets businesses create a direct review link. That link can be used in emails, WhatsApp messages, receipts, QR codes or an NFC product.
3. Put a QR code where customers naturally wait
A QR code at the checkout, reception desk or counter can work well because it gives customers a visible action while they are already standing there.
The message should be obvious: “Scan to leave a review.”
4. Use an NFC review stand
An NFC Google Review stand removes another step. The customer taps the stand with a phone and the review page opens directly.
This works particularly well at counters, receptions, salons, gyms, garages, restaurants and other places where customers finish an in-person experience.
You can also combine NFC and QR in one product so customers can choose between tapping and scanning.
5. Add the review link to follow-up messages
If you already send a thank-you email, appointment follow-up or WhatsApp message, add the review link there. The request should be short and easy to ignore if the customer does not want to review.
6. Reply to the reviews you already have
Responding to reviews shows that feedback is actually read. A short, genuine response is better than copying the same template under every review.
7. Make the physical prompt look like part of your business
A handwritten piece of paper can work, but a branded stand with your logo, colours and one clear instruction is easier to notice and looks intentional.
The ZEQILO Tap range is built around this idea: turning common digital actions into simple physical touchpoints.
Do not offer rewards for Google reviews
Do not offer discounts, free products or other rewards in exchange for a Google review. Ask for genuine feedback from real customers rather than only asking customers you expect to leave a positive rating.
What should a review stand say?
Keep it simple. Good examples include:
- Tap to review us
- Share your experience
- How did we do?
Avoid long instructions. The stand should make the next step obvious in a second or two.
Which method is best?
There is no single method that fits every business. Email works well after online purchases. QR works well on printed materials. NFC works well at physical locations. The strongest setup often uses more than one.
